CANOE AND KAYAKING ON THE CADDO

RATES   STATE LAWS    RIVER GAUGE

For family and friends, church and scout groups, beginners and experts alike will enjoy the Caddo. The river has several really good swimming holes, and places to fish along the way, but Class I and II rapids are frequent and help do much of the "paddling" for you. In the late summer you may have to do more of the paddling yourself, but generally the Caddo stays a pretty good float, and in fact it's one of the most consistent floating rivers in Arkansas.

An early morning fishing trip

Kayaks grow more and more popular every year.  The kids in particular enjoy this option.

Recommended Float TripsNeed a Map?

7.5 Mile Float - From the "Narrows" to Glenwood (most popular)

16 Mile Float - From Norman to Glenwood (if the water is up)

There are several other float options available depending on the river level and time of year.  If you're wanting something from a short "dip in the water" to a several day float trip, just talk to Ron, and he will set you up for the best float on the Caddo.

We open at 8:00am 7 days a week, or earlier on request if you're those fisherman or floating fanatic type who just needs to get a jump on the day!

So if the river's at "6.5" feet...

...what does that mean?

U.S. Geological Survey Caddo River Gauge Link

Gauge height in feet:

Low:       4.75-5.25
Some rocks at 5.25 to get around.  Great range for
inexperienced boaters though.  Below 5.00 still quite floatable.

                Pack light!

Medium: 5.25-6.75
Great floating, few rocks, more boat control (BEST RANGE)

High:       6.75-8.25
A fast-paced float for experienced boaters with almost every
                 rapid washed out above 7.00

Flood:      8.25 or greater
At 8 feet the river is spreading into its flood plain and running
through dense strainers.  Cross currents become powerful.
                 Correct route is most important.

A special thanks to Jim Krueger and the other members of the Arkansas Canoe Club for the above information.
